MONTHLY TIPS
APRIL
April
is one of the busiest times of the year.
The more that can be done now the easier it will be for the rest of the
year.
Time
spent weeding and mulching now is time well spent.
Many of the early flowers are starting to appear.
The
common primrose (Primula acaulis), and the
Cowslip (Primula veris), are popular spring
flowers.
They look good on a grassy bank or in the wildflower garden.
Primula denticulata, the Drumstick primrose is also in full flower now. They come in shades of red, white and purple.
The
cultivated primroses are always popular this
time of year for planting into tubs and baskets, along with spring
flowering pansies and bulbs.
All of the above plants are generally available at the nursery

Despite
all the work that has to be done at this time of year, remember to take
some time to enjoy the display of plants that is beginning to unfold.
Remember if you have any specific plant requirements, let us know, we don't
always have all of our plants on display.
Don't forget, whenever the weather allows, get out on the garden.
A lot
of the traditional autumn planting got left last year, due to the wet
weather.
So now is the time to plant all of those shrubs and perennials that you
never got round to planting in the autumn.
Remember, We now stock a large range of
Mr Fothergills seeds, and onion sets, shallots and seed potatoes are
all now in stock.
Look
through the seed catalogues, gardening books and magazines, for ideas
and inspiration.
Speak to us at the nursery, if you have any thoughts on planting schemes
or colour themes.
There are lots of new exciting plants being introduced all the time, if
you visit us or our web-site we will keep you informed of what we intend
to grow for the coming season.
